Outsourcing strategy
Your outsourcing strategy should not be made just on cost savings. it must also include a longer term vision to improve operational efficiency. Two most important things, when you decide to outsource are
- Choosing right outsourcing strategy
- Finding best fit offshore partner
Your outsourcing strategy can be based on three commonly used outsourcing models
- Managed service
- Build - Operate - Transfer (BOT)
- Pay as you go
Managed services
When close control is required
Dedicated centre will be set-up for you and it will be managed by your outsourcing partner. This model will involve regular co-ordination between your office and the offshore centre. It may also involve deployment of some resources onsite, for enabling a smooth transition of work. Designated persons will be assigned for each role and a senior manager for setting up and running the operations.
Build - Operate - Transfer (BOT)
When you want a fully owned subsidiary offshore center
This model is preferred, if you want to establish your own offshore center. You can see if it will work well, before taking the ownership decision. There are outsourcing suppliers who are capable of setting up and operating offshore centres on your behalf and handle you the responsibility fully or partially after a certain number of years. (Typically after 3-5 years).
Pay as you go
When you need access to cost effective offshore resources
Go for this model, when you want fixed price and want to just execute time-bound outsourcing projects. This model works well with the outsourcing providers with good domain expertise and ability to quickly take on your projects. This is especially suitable when you do not know your long term requirements, but need a supporting hand if anything new comes at a short notice.

- Being a 5 employee business, I thought outsourcing is not meant for us. But I keep hearing from the media, about the cost savings of outsourcing. I gave a try contacting outsourcing companies in India. But many would not take us because of our size.
Fortunately, I found Integra through Googling. They made me feel welcome and were more than willing to help. I use them for the past 3 years. I now use them for accounting, website projects and they are my go to people for anything that I need help. God bless them.
